Summer time is insect time. The first warm summer days you can enjoy in the open air also mark the beginning of a peak period for insects. Everybody has been stung by an insect, whether in their bedroom at home, while having a nice time with their friends and family on the veranda, on a camping trip or while taking a dip in a lake. How it works:
An insect sting or bite injects toxic protein-containing substances into your body.
That produces an allergic reaction, including the discharge of histamine - a substance produced in the human body. This reaction partly accounts for the continuous itchiness, the burning sensation and the swelling caused by a sting. 
The insect sting killer is based on the principle of hyperthermia - the controlled use of locally applied concentrated heat. A temperature is reached of slightly more than 50°C. Thus, the protein compounds of the toxic substances are destroyed and further discharge of histamine is prevented.
The method applied is not a new development. Sailors used to ease the itchiness and the pain caused by a sting by using a piece of hot iron.
The effectiveness of the device was proved in a test supervised by medical doctors. Following instant application of the device 74% of the test participants felt immediate relief of symptoms such as itchiness, a burning sensation and pain. 66% reported that the symptoms had completely vanished 24 hours after the application.
